MythTv take 2

Here's some more on my mythTV attempt. First, i really need to get another keyboard, mouse and CD drive that will boot CD's (for some reason the DVD Drive I got for the mythTV box doesn't like to boot many CDs, not even the Windows XP one.

Here's what happened this time. No matter what I do, I can't get the current version of KnoppMyth to install. I may have to try getting an older version, and seeing if that works. Since that doesn't work, I decided to follow a walk through for Fedora Core 4, and mythTV, which made it look fairly simple. After installing FC4 twice (so I messed up the partitions the first time....), I was able to boot into it, and play around with my new, fun linux box. I managed to get MythTV to install, but I couldn't get it to recognize my capture card (PCHDTV 3000 one). Since I'm a linux newb, I spent about 2 hours looking around various sites from google, and all that I came up with was that it should have been working, since FC4 had built in support for it.

Next attempt will include changeing slots on the MB, and completely reinstalling FC4, and following the howto again, since now I actually know a little more about what I'm doing. Oh, and setting up VNC on it so I can work from my desk, instead of the living room floor.
